Currently, we have a need for a skilled tester with extensive knowledge in testing financial/payment systems.

The primary function of this position is to conduct comprehensive test planning, test and data preparation and test execution on applications that are associated with a major new Billing and Remittance system.  This system includes claims, financial, and payment transaction processing.  The position will include the investigation and set up of new testing tools or software, the configuration of the testing environment, the creation of test scripts, and the analysis and trouble shooting of regression testing problems.  Involves working closely with the business analysts and developers to identify testing scenarios and translate these scenarios into test scripts.  This position requires an in-depth knowledge of testing concepts and as well as a thorough understanding of database structure, SQL, XML and Web based infrastructures.

JOB FUNCTION/PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 
 Planning – Review project needs and determine testing scope and estimates.
 Test case preparation - Review of Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, and file layouts for the extract of data from existing systems into the staging area, and the production of outputs financial and payment files from the new system. Verify that all functionality is captured for testing.
 Test Data preparation - Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and DBAs to verify that test data and reference table data is created and in place prior to test execution. Work with developers to execute data extractions and processing.
 Execution of test scripts and test cases to determine that functionality is behaving as per specifications. Performance of regression testing in accordance with a structured build schedule.
 Work collaboratively with other QA members in all aspects of product testing, quality assurance, time management, problem resolution and change management.
 
 
 CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS: 
Requirements
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• 5-7 years of experience in systems analysis and systems testing 
• Expertise with SQL, UNIX, XML and Oracle database
• Experience with scripting languages such as PERL and RUBY for data validation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including facilitation and presentation skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines
• Extensive knowledge of QA practices and methodologies
• Experienced in performing functional, integration and system testing.
• Understanding of both waterfall and agile development methods, processes and techniques
Technical Skills
• Testing Tools: MS Access, Beyond Compare, Ultra Edit
• Database: Oracle, SQL, Toad, MS Access
• Programming:  HPUX, Shell Script, PERL, RUBY, XML
• Environment/Tools: J2EE, Tuxedo, web portal

Assets
• Previous experience in software development environments
